“Reflections of Peace” Community Candlelighting
A community candlelighting for Peace on Earth will be held on Sunday, September 21 at The
Pond at Buchanan Recreation Center in North Evergreen. “Reflections of Peace” is an interfaith,
non-political event. The gathering begins at 7:00 PM with a sharing of words and songs
relating to Peace on Earth. We will then circle The Pond in candlelight, and at 7:30 observe five
minutes of silence for personal meditation, prayers, and intentions for peace.
The event is cosponsored by Evergreen Peace, a local organization that supports activities
promoting peace and justice; and ILoveUGuys Foundation in Bailey, created to restore and
protect the joy of youth through education and positive action. Reflections of Peace is being
held along with many worldwide events on the U.N. “International Day of Peace,” Sept. 21.
Those attending are reminded to dress warmly and bring candles with wind protection or other
light sources, as well as thoughts or prayers for peace. Reflections of Peace was traditionally
held on December 21 and we still hope for a weather-permitting event on that date; but after
snow cancellations the past two years, we decided to move Reflections of Peace to September
21. For further information, call 303-674-9454 or e-mail at info@EvergreenPeace.org.
